A Brief Letter To The President

I sent this email to President Obama a few minutes age. I doubt I’ll get an answer, but it felt good to get it off my chest. It is a little tersely written — they only allow 2500 characters.

I have read two trial balloons about cuts to Social Security and its current beneficiaries that the Administration is considering (changing COLA comp from using CPI-W to using C-CPI-U and increasing the retirement age.) These are both unacceptable to the vast majority of Americans. Your constituency? Remember them. I do favor raising the covered earnings CAP back to 90%, where it was throughout most of SSA’s history. But none of this is pertinent to deficit reduction. Social Security has contributed not one cent to the budget deficit or to the national debt. As a matter of fact, the four SSA trust funds own about 20% of the national debt. That’s the real reason that Republicans want to cut Social Security, so they wont have to repay what the Federal government owes Social Security. Cutting Social Security has nothing to do with reducing the national debt. To say anything else is to lie. You should know better than this.

Tax the rich. That is also hugely popular among the Americans. The millionaires and billionaires, and their corporations, have gotten away with murder for 10 years now. It is time they lose their free ride.

You have caved in to the Republicans so many times that I consider you to be either a Republican yourself, or a paid shill for them. For once, prove me wrong. You cannot negotiate with people whose avowed aim is to cause the American economy to fail, so that the Democrats will take the blame. Right now the distinction between Republican and Democratic positions couldn’t be clearer to Americans. Don’t muddy things up by agreeing with them again. You wouldn’t pet a mad dog. The Republicans are no better.

Anyway, Wall Street and the big corporations, who stand to lose a lot of money if the US defaults, will not let it happen. They will call their Republican lapdogs, and order them to make the deal. After all, they own them outright, and the Republicans will do what their corporate masters tell them to do. All of this dancing and posturing that is going on now is Kabuki.

My question is this — are you one of the corporate controlled lapdogs too?

I still resent being called “purist” and “sanctamonious” by you, and a “f***ing moron” by that immoral creature who was your chief of staff. If it is these things to have principles, and to be a “f***ing moron” to express tham, then give me principles every time. What happened to your principles? I believed in you, once. Now I pray for a primary challenger to you.

I also believED in him ONCE! NO MORE!

“Every one will feel the pain”…..500,000 thousand state ,city and federal workers have lost their jobs. How many Wall street and corporate heads, lobbyists, karl Roves, have lost their jobs…..these bastards will only enter this century kicking and screaming, just like the oil, steel and robber barons of the last century. Sometimes I wonder if this is all a dream….a bad dream.

Grover Norquist, the guru of the anti-government lunatics said, in the early 1980s, “My goal is to cut government in half in twenty-five years, to get it down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub.”
The rich, the corporations, and the Republicans have basically waging a war against the middle class since about 1980. Since Bush II it has been a lot more out in the open, but it is not new. Unfortunately, it is no dream.

You actually voted for Obama? SO how is that working out for you now? If you voted for Obama don´t cry about your SSI benefits. Remember, it was CLINTON who started the SSI reduction program, not the Republicans.

      Truth Teller,

      Thank you for writing.

Yes I voted for Obama and I intend to do so again. Who else in the freak show posing as Republican candidates should I even consider? The bombastic bully who hasn’t have a single shred of morals or ethics and who thinks he is better than everyone else? The arrogant plutocrat who has never stuck the the same side of any issue, whose candidacy is enthusiastically supported by his fellow Wall Street plutocrats? The rabid religious zealot who tells girls pregnant from rape or incest that they must keep the babies and consider them as “gifts from God.” Or the mad Texas anarchist (who poses as a Libertarian) but who is just hanging around to make trouble.

The Committee To Re-Elect Barack Obama

How is it working out for me. Not as well as it would if both houses of congress weren’t under the stranglehold of the 2010 teabaggers. I expect that in November many of them will be unceremoniously dumped back into the lunatic asylums from which they came. Good riddance. Then we’ll see some progress.

I don’t cry about my SSI benefits because I never received SSI. I was an employee of the Social Security Administration whose primary responsibilities were helping to administer the SSI program from the early 1980’s through the mid 2000s. What “SSI reduction program are you referring to? I am unaware of it.
